A few comic strips combined into a little booklet. About what life would be like if we didn’t have faces anymore and changing expressions would take a bit more effort..
I started this project fascinated by how much we communicate with our facial expressions. Words simply don’t mean the same if our faces are not in tune with what we’re saying. I started fantasizing and wondering about a future where very suddenly we lost our facial features; nose, mouth, eyes, eyebrows, ears and even cheeks. Somehow we still had all the abilities like hearing, smelling, seeing etc. But how would we interact? Still being used to all the expressions we convey with our faces, we would have to get creative. How about masks? Yes, masks were the answer. So I started making little comics about what life would be like if you had to buy your expressions and put on that mask to show basic facial expressions.
